Groundhog Matrix day: The Edge of Tomorrow

Oddly enough, this one I didn't hate. After several American popcorn 'meh's, this one was actually kind of fulfilling. I can't grasp why that witless minion Tom Cruise is so charismatic and of course Emily Blunt is always amazing.. But also, I don't know. Even without the war drama or Louvre first  sunk, then blowing up... I thought it was well done. I liked the first part better, especially right up until his first - SPOILER - dying. That's the morning of battle and if you're into battles, it's really adventurous, but if you're not, that the bit that rips you in two and if you survive, you're a mental patient.

Cue the cool OST: .....

Plot goes pretty much as you would expect. A dumb, reluctant chosen one, named Neo - I mean Cage - is thrown into a blitzkrieg chaos of humanity's last stand against the sentinels (which are aliens this time). He hooks up with a superior warrior lady Trinity - I mean Full Metal Bitch Rita Rose Vrataski, flailing a Cloud Strife broadsword - who is ready to die either for him or for the battle any number of times. There is an evil central Occulus type of a deal, Omega, which needs to be personally blown to shit, because for some reason Earth-to-Earth missiles wouldn't do the trick this time, and the rest of the alphabet of evil yet effectively chop-everything-up minions. The loser goes from a dickless PR to a super ninja over a course of 200 or so trial and error suicides, until he runs out of his sight. Literally for Neo, figuratively yet truly for Cage. With a little bit of a help from his other suicidal friends/army rejects, he blows up what remains of Louvre, but saves the day... By going back another day. I didn't get that last bit. But seeing Mrs. Metal Bitch do her beautiful plank-on-hands form was worth it. At first i thought she is doing it on just one hand, but two is okay, too.

And although this was a D-Day Normandy type of a landing, I was glad it wasn't trying to be Saving Private Ryan, with intestines being dragged around behind severed people... Everybody kept dying all the time, but there really wasn't any blood to speak of... Maybe alien, which looked like liquid silver ink.

Scouting locations for the next potencial three years...

We've driven to a Spa Town, very small, very adorable, to look at places that I might get to start a small business... Although the old movie theater would in my opinion be better suited for a small live theater, I do see the little shop as something between an art market and a pop cake/vegan cups patisserie... I see it totally, I just know now that i hate being tied down to a location... no matter how quaint.

There is this super interesting castle being renovated, one of the two that look really interesting

The hotels of the resort

The old theater... I could fix this place. But I'm not really feeling it.

This, on the other hand, I'm feeling completely. With some paint on the shutters and some roses to enclose the garden, this would make an adorable shop. Then I would bug all my friends to make yummy or endearing things and I'd sell the to Dutch tourists.

What's coming?? :D

And then out of the blue I get asked if I would like to run a tiny movie theater. What the hell is it with me and tiny movie theaters this year? Was I thinking "time to try something new" and God was eavesdropping on me again? Stop that!

Barns of Madison County :)

Sweet day today :) I haven't slept enough, but no matter, I will later. We got up at 3 so I could drive G to work and move on towards Krško, a town with a nuclear power plant. We drove there a few days ago and it's a lovely drive by a wide, deep river with pretty landscape. I wanted to catch the area before daybreak. The best part about driving at 4 is no traffic. Although I am very shy and keep my head down all the time while I photograph, I really am a friggin' ninja on the inside. There's just something about a good morning's work that makes me feel like I have big fucking ...wings.

And of course taking photographs again turns me on. I haven't found my footing back yet, but I know what's wrong. I'll be waltzing around various styles for a while, until I fix it..

These are the barns I saw and wanted to shoot.. And also, there was a castle on the way and a railway bridge, but mostly I wanted to shoot the heck out of those barns :D

Oh, and I know making hysterical HDR is a massive NO NO, but I'm weak. Fuck it. Just once.

Aww, man, I am a terrible reader :S My attention span is like 20 pages long! Then I just get totally nervous, because I get so inspired and get so many new ideas, I wanna go home and write my own stuff. This blows. The better the book, the worse I am at reading it. Even airport novels, the crime stuff i borrow from the library for mum and check to make sure they're not ghastly - I just sip my ice coffee, suck on my pop cake, flip through action stuff happening and start getting into the zone. It helps because to read two books simultaneously, but still. You can only trick your brain so much before it catches on.

... Did I say ice coffee and pop cake? I meant watered down decaf and gluten-free whole wheat crackers.

Bored of the Rings...

Oddly enough, the penultimate episode of this season's (#4) GoT wasn't so bad. I mean, it's a good season, probably as good as the first one, almost, but I am bored by it none the less. There is only so many excellent titties and eviscerated individuals I still enjoy per show. But "Watchers on the Wall" was a good one. Few tragic death, few mammoth squashed poor bastards and an overall feeling of "we are so fucked"....

Wait. How did Lord of The Rings folk do it again? They were up against a 100.000 thousand as well, right? Oh, right, they had ghosts and Legolas. Silly me.
