Great reading last night (also great pizza). We were joined by another adorable young actress, the energy between the lead and her was two thumbs up. I'm going to add scenes to their conflict, just to have them on the stage longer.

I really should write the next a play in which people wrestle and have hot sex all the time and then strangle or drown one another or something. I can't explain it, I just really want to see these people go as far as they would go. mental note for the next film project? :D Killing me topless?

Okay, these totally aren't professional thoughts of a serious director. Pull it together.

Gran

Had a second interview, with gran... Though I feel I could have asked her more specific things and am going to go back to her place tomorrow...  Hopefully she'll be in an equally cheerful mood. She was distressed today, because she thinks a man in the store, while she was getting her vegetables, stole an apple from her basket and she wanted me to go warn the ladies in the shop... But we agreed if the man needed it so badly to steal it from an old woman, he may keep it.
There is such a spooky coherency to her narrative, she remembers such creepy details of her youth-hood. Like, she'd say 'When Walter (her husband) and I, two years after our divorce, went for a drink at Branibor (a local pub), he drank beer and I had a Mussolini... and he said 'what are we going to do now'?'....

What the heck was a Mussolini? :D

There. This is the sort of movies that I would want to take if I was a war reporter in WWII. FROM tanks. AHEAD of the charge. Between the fire. And on both sides of it.

Why every fucking time come up with something fun i want to do, 25 seconds later I find that someone's alreayd done it EXACTLY??

Not in a month, not in a week, not in a day. The same fucking morning. Without looking.
What the fuck?

... Guess this means I have to do it better. Anyone can do an interview with a famous person - nobody cares what they say as long as they're talking to them. I want to make interviews with completely normal people. I think normal people are more interesting. Just gotsta prove it.

I had a very long day, but in a good way. I shot a birthday party for a ninety-year-old little lady and her family; I do hope they'll let me post the pickies at some point... Photogenic ensemble, very down to earth, very Real world. It's not surprising really, that they were very nice to me. I've been to weddings and parties where they treated me like shit, I had to borrow money to pay for my own food and coffee and they'd just call me 'girl' or talk down on photography... It's okay, I don't mind it, I don't really listen. But when they are nice, it makes a nine-hour shoot a lot sweeter. I am awful, I know, because my first instinct is that they are mocking or scamming me. But not really. Some are respectful, intimidated or impressed by a professional photographer. Others are flirty. Most are just happy to be there and hopeful they look nice enough. The food was really good. I was tempted to drink coffee after five or six hours, but the problem with coffee is that it hits hard and makes you all good, until it drops you down and you're keeling over at the eight' hour. Water, and sugar. In many, many forms.
When it got uneventful, just after the main sitting and two hours away from the last dish (cake), I entertained myself by imagining I'm at a German command dinner party in occupied France, in 1943 or '44. Then I wrote an newspaper expose on it. Two hours go by like swoosh when you're writing a Nazi party expose, complete with photos. I got so needy about female conversationalist I started talking to Eva Brown about the weather.

*(BY NO MEANS DOES THIS REFLECT THE COMPANY I WAS IN, IT'S JUST THE BOOK I'M WRITING AND WHAT I DO TO KEEP SHARP. It could have been anything. It could have been puppies.)

Thank all Gods for my imagination.
And Plants Vs. Zombies.
Those also make time fly.
But then all the kids come swarming over and nag about wanting to play, too.

Was gonna buy a super cute leather iPad purse, but the General made me tell him about it and then confiscated all my fee money. Darn it. I really have to learn how to keep things from him. It's not like I have a stack of unpaid bills or anything. Or is it under a big pile of half written poems and candy wrappers somewhere? Could be.

Raining for a whole summer now :) I am starting to truly love the rain. Not the best photographic angle, but I love the sounds and the smells. And that there are not many wasps or mosquitoes.

I've tried adding fonts to Blogger, but am too sleepy to focus... A complicated shoot tomorrow, have to go to bed soon. Listening to the General breathe is a tranquiliser... Like watching a kitten dream. Charge the batteries. Clean the lenses. Still no word on catalog. I should hurry, before they steal all of the designs.

Had a great evening with Maja, just yummy dinner and walking around the shopping center, talking and listening and being completely chillaxed. There's a new store selling buttons and I saw a cool new purse I really don't need. Gosh darn it O.o

Started a new blog...

... it's probably going to be bilingual or I will get around to translating it. Maybe. Maybe, if it's a long dreary winter.. :D
... It'll be full of interviews.
Like this one. With my camera :D
(I jumped on the first thing that failed to flee me.)

A lesson Kay gets at the start of her correspondence career, after she blows the report by taking it too lightly..

(From Dread Upon Reality)

If you are going to have a critical judgment of something, you can’t go at it only like a passionate, preference oriented person. There is nothing wrong with being a passionate person with a specific taste and penchant, but as a journalist or a critic – and this is different than being a reporter, but it is a distinction you have to tailor for yourself specifically – that needs to be the spice, not the meat of the matter. The meat is a broader, better placed background people are either familiar with or it is a lesson they are willing to absorb. You can be very good at this; you are a natural born story teller. You just have to learn to learn. Facts and only facts are sacred here. If you think even just the slightest bit of untruth or bullshit or an account out of perspective for the purposes of getting attention will ever find ink in your text, you have already wasted your objective. Say something good about the land before you dis the times it is enduring now. Or say something troubling about the industry that has finally done it right for a change and set the precedent for a good new wind coming. Talk about the people, talk about the strategy, KNOW YOUR CONTEXT, appreciate the effort but challenge the money, challenge the greed, challenge the vulgarity if you find it, challenge all the sins. Put in biology if you must, put in evolution, but do not diminish human magnificence because you are a cynic. You’re not writing for (pl)ants. Plants hate newspapers, it used to be them. People like beauty and courage and rags-to-riches tales of woe; the more they live in the gutter the more so. Celebrate the ideals of readers or readers you wish you had, not the constant onslaught of mistakes and stupidity being made with good intentions. Provoke, but don’t insult. Impress, but don’t shock. Report, but don’t lead. Leave the options open, because you are not infallible, even after you’ve had an ardent opinion. Informing is your only job. Pray, have fun with it. Be proud at it. Become more famous than the stories you tell, if that’s your venom. See it as an excellent adventure. It will look so pretty on the pages. But there has to be blood and sweat and tears in the ink, yours or otherwise. It is the only thing in this trade more substantial that lead.
