The Rosa accessories shoot
In a hurry :D I am cranky (ate too much exellent food and then drank way too much coke over it...), tired (working so much, loving it :D) and I just watched the Walking Dead, which is enough to make anyone want to kill themselves with caramel chocolate overdose, but this is what we did today with Tammy, another lovely shoot with a suprisingly cooperative weather :P
I am a great fan of physics… Math to me is cold and without stories, but physics… Physics can be hot, it can be cunning, it can be challenged and people love to do that every day. There is dancing and color seeping through almost every crack. Physics is where you just got to get the simple numbers right and the universe will do the rest.
Not unlike to a somewhat confused Dr. Jung, numbers to me don’t make much sense. They exist, they interact when forced to, they are an excellent way of communicating between ambitions, but to me they serve no purpose. Standalone, they are like solitude atoms in a void, solitude bones in a depot, like Lego parts long lost and washed ashore on some cold beach. Only when applied to real life – which is within physics – do they come alive. To me that is excellent, it is grand. There have been times when I would stare ages on end at a demonstration of a physical law. Fractal science notwithstanding, I never stared at a mathematical formula by anything other than impotent frustration over a high-school test.
Having long disproved ecological side of the Heisenberg Principle of Uncertainty, and figured it out how to measure the addition of buoyant mass within a bowl of water on a structure, I am now, still, curious to learn the practical differences between candela, lux and lumen. In my school fantasies, the teacher I hit on is always a physics professor. Ironically I barely ever had a decent one – I think only for one year among all my high schools (oddly prone to humanities instead) that I even had physics. I even considered going to university to study it, but math got in my way. During that year in my first high school, I had D minuses in math, if I studied really hard, and I had – and I was the only one in the entire class who did – had As in physics. Even now these practical sciences, avoiding greatly the drama of biology, chemistry and geopolitics, keep my brain happy when I am bored. I can be the atom who says to God: “Lemme try being an atom during a gas giant supernova. I’ve done the homework: I know what to do :D …”

Another perfect hunt today: three hours of pushing through the terrain (you come out as if you just fell from a nasty tree), twenty hunters, nine dogs and zero kills. :D My jinx continues, steady on. Barky loved it, once again, even if she got lost towards the end because she followed the other dogs to the randez-voiz point whereas I fell behind (the General intercepted me to offer me a ride), then she went to look for me, but we missed each-other, so she ran around the hill, backtracking the scents and got to the others when we went to look for her. A minor mishap :D She's a super hound and I really enjoy working with her. Then we all go home, eat something and pass out. Later, in the shower, I pull out all the tiny thorns from my socks, thighs and hair :))
For lunch, we watched Conan The Barbarian... It was a very short movie, as I usually skip the slashing gory scenes in which the characters get to show off their oiled muscles and their barbaric prowess and not much else, so skipping those, the movie is about fifteen minutes long. There are actually some interesting scenes, though I wouldn't go as far as to say the rest is worth any praise, really, at all. It's just the kind of a movie you see once, skipping scenes, mention it in a blog and forget about it. There were some interesting daddy issues on Rose McGowan's part, her trying to hump her own father, but that's just the sort of a thing to turn *me* on, not anyone else in this household. 'Course the dad was played by Stephen Lang, so therein lies the rub. I love to watch that old dick be bad in movies. He is very boring if he is good. So, before you judge - there's Jason Momoa speaking, Stephen Lang drooling and Rose McGowan bald - and you don't get to see that often enough, so relish the opportunity and shut up :P

I'll say again: Can't begin to describe what a good team we were. Absolutely everyone was a complete professional and by that I always mean people who a) know what they want, b) know what they can offer and work with that, c) know how to be a small part of a large team and c) find solutions before complaining, even at 9 p.m. The mood was lovely all the way until the end (which is when I passed out). Truly a very productive cooperation. As Claire would put it, this is something we could do a lot :D

Yeesh :D
Also a small bird died during, but that wasn’t really our fault. From life to life, tho.
Yesterday the entire day was spent shooting the second casting of the Rosa catalogue :D It was one of those really really nice shoots. Albeit tiredness-inspiring as fuck.
We started at six thirty, when I joined the models to drive to the hairdresser’s on Planina. It was probably the only place in the country where the sun was shining like there can never again be any clouds around. Alas, as we got to Ljubljana, it wasn’t only foggy, or cloudy, it was both, and dense.
The art directors have this ridiculously stylish apartment – stylish so in fact, we managed to get most of our shots right then and there. No need to stress I completely forgot to drink and eat during, and was working on a 100% up until eight in the eve, when we started to wrap things up. At ten-ish we went to McDonald’s and at about then, my 100% went down to three. After the wrap, I switch off completely. I slept the entire drive back and even now, a day after, I am high on being tired. Everything in my body aches – in the best way. There’s another beauty shot session scheduled for me tomorrow, so I need the sleep tonight, regardless of Friday night allure, and I have to work on stuff while I wait. These opportunities is what I’ve been working towards for the past year – exactly one past year. One should never for one second assume this is the finish line…
The models, patiently getting ready :D

Tomorrow we start the catalogue shoot in Ljubljana for the Rosa Handmade Accessories store… I love this calm before the storm hours… Charging the batteries… Cleaning the lenses… Clearing the memory cards… Flipping through old Vogues, learning the angles… Loading fresh movies and songs onto the iPad... Talking to nervous models on the phone, and thrilled happy organizers... It feels weird not to be the one doing everything, it always does. Models will be styled by someone else, clothes will come from the store, picked by the coordinator, locations, transport… hopefully lavatories and food… will be provided by someone else. I mean, I KNOW that’s how photo shoots are supposed to be, but I am so comfortable in the ones where there’s just me, the model and the dog, I find these to be almost like school trips. The interest is the same, but the organization is totally out of my hands :D
Which reminds me – bring your own tea mug, full of hot tea (I am out of coffee and I don’t want to have to use the bathroom in the middle of the highway…) and I would bring some cookies or something, but I a) don’t really have the money for them (saving dramatically for the Speedlite flash), b) start too early for shops to open and c) don’t want to walk around with a bit of chocolate stuck between my teeth for the rest of the day… :D
